Code Change Training is starting soon

The Jack A. Proctor Virginia Building Code Academy has announced the schedule for the 2012 Code Change Training series. The academy will conduct four sessions across the state on the following dates:

  • July 15-17: Western Virginia/Wytheville
  • July 29-31: Northern Virginia
  • Aug. 12-14: Metro Richmond
  • Sept. 16-18: Tidewater

The code change training session agenda is;

  • Day One (Tuesday) – Building codes
  • Day Two (Wednesday) – Administrative and related codes
  • Day Three (Thursday) – Trades

The classroom schedule is three days, and each day must be attended in full (no partial days), however, students can attend all three days consecutively, spread over multiple offerings or in combination with the online training sessions.

Students may register for classroom sessions through the JPVBCA online registration system at https://dmz1.dhcd.virginia.gov/TASO/TASOTCO/Default.aspx .

Although offered consecutively, each day of training is a stand-alone event, and students will register for each day of training separately. Lunch and a student companion guide will be provided during the training. New for this cycle of code change training is the availability of lodging the evening prior to each day of training.

Additionally, individual courses will be available online as self-study modules through the Jack A. Proctor Virginia Building Code Academy Knowledge Center at https://covkc.virginia.gov/dhcd/vbca/Kview/CustomCodeBehind/Customization/Login/COV_Login.aspx. We expect these courses to become available in mid-July, and it will give code officials another great way to learn about significant changes to the 2012 building codes.

Please contact the Virginia Building Code Academy for additional details at (804) 371-7180 or Irene.brown@dhcd.virginia.gov.
